After a long carreer in the development of indigenous health services and programs including 28 years developing Durri Aboriginal Medical Service and a couple of stints with the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing, Steve Blunden is now working as a consultant in partnership with ACHIEVE Outcomes Australia.
Peter and Kath Lindsay are extremlely pleased that Steve has decided to work closely with ACHIEVE.
"Steve is a person we both admire and respect, and are proud to call a friend. Throughout his life he has committed himself to improving the opportunity for Aboriginal people to enjoy good health. His dedication and commitment are there for all to see. Most importantly his integrity is beyond question, and he is a good friend" explained Peter.
Steve Blunden incorporated Durri Aboriginal Medical Service in Kempsey NSW in 1979. He started with a small room, a nurse, and a request by elders of the community to set up and manage this important service. Over the next 25 years he took it to a service with over 30 programs and 5 doctors - all wanting to work for the organisation because he was the CEO.
Over recent years Steve moved to Cairns to be with his partner Sharon, and worked as a Solutions Broker for Cairns, Cape York and the Torres Strait Islands with the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing.
Steve is now keen to use his skills to help build services and improve opportunities for Aboriginal people all over Australia. "I believe by working with Peter and ACHIEVE Outcomes Australia we offer the skills to ensure we are best placed to help organisations achieve the best results for their communities. We offer a unique range of skills developed through a collective of over 50 years of experience in health service development."
