It is was with great pleasure that Peter Lindsay recently joined the Management Committee of Waratah Respite Services.
Warartah Respite Services provide overnight and day respite for the Coffs Harbour, Woolgoolga and Bellingen communities. In these times of ever increasing demands on carers, respite is essential to enhance the opportunity for carers to receive a well earned break and regenerate their batteries. At the same time Waratah provides much needed recreational and social needs for the care recipients.
As the emphasis has shifted to supporting people to remain in their own home much longer, the demands for respite services has increased. The Coffs Harbour region has one of the oldest populations in Australia. Additionally, the region has a proud reputation of supporting people with disabilities. There is a great need to enhance these type of services.
Peter explained: "It was a great honour to be invited to join the committee. It has a proud record of achievement. Management and staff are extremely committed, and I hope that I am able to make a contribution to the development of the organisation and its services."
