In conjunction with Southern Cross University and a local Aboriginal Community Working Party, we explored and developed innovative strategies for sustainable community housing in an Indigenous community. The processes adopted included:

• Recruiting local Aboriginal people to conduct a houshold survey to find answers to the Question - What will make acommunity housing plan sustainable?
  
• Involving them in the development of thesurvey questionniare as part of their training
• Training them to conduct the survey

The survey provided some fairly indicative answers. The most rewarding aspect was the pleasure the workers took in carrying out the household survey.
