Community Development is about helping communities to clarify and address issues of concern to them. It includes:

• Building partnership & other collaborative relationships
• Researching issues to gain an accurate understanding of the circumstances
• Consulting closely with communities to ensure you understand their perspective
• Helping them to identify solutions
• Facilitating processes to enable them to address the issues

The ACHIEVE team have assisted community groups throughout Australia to develop and implement change processes including:

• Facilitating and assisting in negotiating formal Partnerships such as the Many Rivers Aboriginal Medical Service Health Alliance, the North Coast Aboriginal Health Partnership and the Mid North Coast Aboriginal Health Partnership
• Identifying options for the development of an Indigenous child care facility
• Developing the model for an After Hours Medical Service in a small rural community
• Securing support including funding for the development of a Regional Aged Care Strategic Plan
• Reviewing the Managment and Direction of a Youth Centre in a remote community
• Developing a sustainable community housing plan for a large regional Indigenous community
